Press Release Spring 2016: Rockwell, Witt

March 17, 2016

For Immediate Release, New York, NY.

Rich Brilliant Willing to introduce a new product collection in collaboration with David Rockwell in May 2016.

Rich Brilliant Willing is pleased to present three new pieces designed in partnership with David Rockwell and his award-winning firm Rockwell Group, two sconces, one chandelier: Phase, Notch and Witt. Together, the two firms reinterpreted basic geometric forms as minimalist sculpture, using solid, luxury materials to transform the circle and the square into expressions of poetic simplicity. The resulting suite of jewel-like, LED pendants and sconces are versatile in their applications, adding both a warmth and sophistication to an array of different environments.

"Rockwell Group's deep understanding of lighting for hospitality has influenced our thinking over the last few years,"says RBW co-founder Alexander Williams. "With them,it's always a conversation about how our lighting will be an essential element of the interior atmosphere. This collaboration is a natural extension of our relationship." This collection marks RBW’s first design collaboration with an outside firm.

Each piece in the collection has a transformative quality," according to David Rockwell, principal of the Rockwell Group. "Through variations in size, configurations, and light, each piece in the collection can solve any number of aesthetic and functional needs for residential, hospitality, and contract settings."

In this collection:

Notch  -  Phase  -  Witt

Witt

Witt is a modular, geometric take on the traditional chandelier. Two glowing, pearl-like luminaires are framed by the graphic outlines of five hollow brass cubes, which, like building blocks, allow for endless compositions: They can be hung in a linear procession, both horizontally and vertically; as a cluster; or at staggered heights. The sets of five can also be combined to a customized scale. The ultra-slim suspension cables are near invisible, leaving the focus on the composition.
